Hidden in the Darkness

Although it started as a joke, I couldn’t help myself from imbuing the quick satire footage with deeper meaning. I asked my friend to give me a theme to make a film about, and she replied “Apologies” without hesitation. I asked, how would I portray that, and she joked about just making a black screen. So I did. The dark screen lasts for 17 seconds, coresiding with an important date to me. And hidden in the darkness, in the low exposure, are things I’m sorry for. Things I feel sorry for. I end it with the words: I don’t feel sorry anymore. Which is a warning on trauma, specifically derealization as a self-preservation method.
